Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project consists of a main lock and an auxiliary lock. The main lock is 1200 ft by 110 ft with a lift gate at the upstream end and a set of miter gates at the downstream end. The auxiliary lock is 600 ft by 110 ft with a lift gate at the upstream end and a set of miter gates at the downstream end. The main lock miter gate anchorages at Locks 27 are in need of replacement. Work is anticipated to be accomplished with traditional heavy river marine construction equipment, such as floating plant and barge mounted crane staged at the lock. The work will be performed during a scheduled winter closure which is currently estimated to occur during the winter of 2023. Temporary Support of Existing Miter Gate: The work consists of furnishing all river based floating plant, barge mounted crane, labor, materials, and equipment for contractor designed temporary support of existing 230-ton miter gates. The work also includes the use of marine divers to install temporary shoring to support the existing downstream miter gates in the gate recesses. New Miter Gate Anchorages: The work consists of furnishing all river based floating plant, barge mounted crane, labor, materials, and equipment for removal and replacement of 4 miter gate anchorage frames for the downstream miter gates to the main lock at Locks 27. The work involves concrete removal via diamond wire saw or other conventional methods, fabrication and installation of new miter gate anchorage frames, placement of new reinforced concrete, connection of the new miter gate anchorage frames to the miter gates. Associated electrical work consists of locating and identifying various existing low voltage circuit cables and temporary disconnection, removal or preservation, and reinstallation of various existing low voltage circuit cables. Electrical work also includes reconstruction of various electrical raceway sections due to structural demolition requirements.
