Description

Wooley Avenue (between Davis and Spring Mountain Boulevard) is a primary E/W collector street on the east side of the city that connects other high use roads (Railroad, Davis, Spring Mountain Boulevard). It is also a principal multi-modal transporation route connecting separated pathways east of Davis with the new Wooley boardwalk (just east of Denali Court). Reconstruction of this roadway would include: shift the portions of the vehicle lanes north to accomodate a separated pathway on the south side (between Davis and Denali Court); installing appropriate stormwater and regional drainage facilities, relocating overhead utilities to the edge of the ROW and/or undergrounding them, and upgrading necessary underground infrastructure. This Major Collector roadway has high vehicle and multi-modal use, yet lacks the necessary infrastructure to safely accomodate the users. Additionally, the remaining service life of the asphalt is approaching zero. The Streets Department has high annual maintenence costs to repair potholes and deal with inadaquate drainage facilities. The City receives many comments from the community requesting that this roadway be reconstructed to address the poor roadway conditions and lack of pathway and other multi-modal facilies As November 23, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023 - 27 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2025. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
