The design of this project was completed by the owner's in-house design professional. The Work to be performed under this Contract includes the construction of the 5.3-acre Section 4 Phase 1 Cell. Contractor activities include: stripping, containment berm construction, access road improvements, material excavation and hauling, RSL placement and compaction, providing and installing the leachate drainage layer, installing general fill, access roads and surface water control berms and culverts, and seeding/mulching disturbed areas. Site preparation activities include: -Stripping and clearing materials, and removing designated items from within the proposed limits of construction and designated soil stockpile area; -Construction of a perimeter containment berm for stockpiling of excavated materials; - Mass excavation lacustrine soils overlying glacial till soils for placement in the soil stockpile area; - Access Road construction from the existing Hoffman Road to: o Section 4, Phase 1 Cell; and, o Section 3 disposal area, including stripping, drainage culverts, and placement of General Fill for the protection of existing interim cover. The 5.3-acre composite liner system consists of the following from the bottom to top: - 3-foot thick Recompacted Soil Layer; - 60mil HDPE Geomembrane; - 1-foot thick Leachate Drainage Layer; - Non-Woven Geotextile Fabric; - General Fill for Termination Berms and Access Road improvements; and, - Temporary stormwater diversion berms and drainage culverts. All Work must be carried out and maintained in accordance with the Construction Drawings and Technical Specifications. Materials found to be outside the tolerances identified in the Construction Drawings and Technical Specifications must be reworked or removed and replaced to the approval of the CQA Consultant and at no additional cost to the Owner. Contractor will be responsible for any damage their operations cause to any portion of the Work or existing structures, regardless of the circumstances, and will repair this damage to the approval of the CQA Consultant and at no additional cost to the Owner. Contractor will be responsible for all dewatering and repairs required due to rain or freezing; associated costs are to be included in unit prices. The Contractor will also be responsible for dust control and maintaining all required haul roads during construction. |
