Description | The project is briefly described as follows: Select demolition activities at the existing treatment facility that include; pre-aeration basin, grit facilities and piping, and lift station equipment and piping, associated site concrete and/or structures, grating, stairs, associated piping, valves, and controls; miscellaneous mechanical/electrical equipment, and site modifications. Construction of a Grit building and grit equipment, rehabilitation of north lift station and primary clarifier #2. Work will require bypass pumping. Construction activities include providing all necessary materials, labor, equipment, and testing for the installation and/or construction of improvement to the following: 1. Select demolition activities at the existing treatment facility that include: removing existing grit basins (2), removing existing pre-aeration basins (3), and removing existing Parshall flume basin while retaining the two-story existing grit washer building, and removing existing silo; removal of pipes, pumps and appurtenances in the North Lift Station, partial removal of 20" and 30" force main piping from the existing North Lift Station to the existing grit removal building; and decommissioning of existing irrigation well per NDEE standards. 2. Construction Activities include providing all necessary materials, labor, equipment, and testing for the installation and/or construction of improvementsto the following: a. New precast grit building and overland waste receiving station including new grit removal equipment consisting of two stainless steel vortex units, two recessed impeller grit pumps, two grit washers with screw conveyor, flow meter, and any associated valves, piping, concrete, mechanical, controls, electrical, yard piping shown and connections to the North Lift Station and existing primary clarifiers. Includesrerouting of 6-inch waste activated sludge (WAS) line from existing pre-aeration basins to the intake structure for primary clarifiers #1 and #2, and bypass back to the head of the plant. New grit building will be integrated into existing SCADA system. Also includes construction of a new overland waste receiving station that will receive truckloads of wastewater that will be pumped to the grit washers for processing. b. Non-potable water system in the existing aeration control building including pumps, piping, hydropneumatic tank and controls, electrical connections, yard piping, yard hydrant. Will also include extension of and connection to the potable water system with all associated valves, backflow prevention controls and piping to serve as a backup if non-potable water is not available due to maintenance. The non-potable system will serve the grit washers in the new grit building, the new overland waste receiving station both for fluidizing the offloaded wastewater and a yard hydrant for washing the truck offloading area. A nonpotable line will be run to the North Lift Station for potential future use. c. Rehabilitation of the North Lift Station including replacement of all piping, appurtenances, pumps and electrical equipment inside the existing structure, rehabilitation of the mechanical systems for the North Lift Station building, and replacement of the east door. Work in the existing wetwell will require bypass piping. d. Primary Clarifier #2 rehabilitation including cleaning and recoating of the equipment mechanisms, and rebuilding drive unit. e. Plant SCADA system modifications and reconnections. f. Project work shall include all required spare parts as listed in the specifications. 3. SWPPP, Floodplain development, Fire Marshal, and other permitting implementation. 4. All work complete with bypass pumping ofselected processes, connectionsto existing structures, sidewalks or paved roadways, site grading, erosion control, seeding, yard piping, buried valves, architectural building modifications, mechanical/electrical/control components, demolition/modification, and other items of miscellaneous work which are either shown on the plans or in the Contract Documents to complete the Work |
