Description

The VAPHS VA Pittsburgh has a need for services to replace two 16-inch gate valves that do not seat or seal off when closed from flow for isolation from the main loop. The contractor will be providing the labor, rigging and hoist equipment to remove the old valves and install new valves that will be provided by the VA. The contractor will be responsible for the adherence to all VA regulations and safety requirements. The contractor will be responsible for submitting a safety plan to the VA safety office for review and approval. The contractor will remove and dispose of the old valves, install the new provided 16-inch valves, the contractor will provide all new gaskets and required nuts and bolt hardware to install the new valves. The contractor will provide leak testing to ensure the valves are sealed and free of any leaks and the valves seat seal properly. The contractor will provide the insulation services to properly insulate the new valves and any affected flanges or pipe to prevent all condensation caused by the chilled water application. Valve Blankets or enclosures are acceptable if a tight vapor barrier is maintained to prevent condensation. The operating temperature of the chilled water system is 42 degrees and will require insulation thicknesses to prevent condensation. The services will be required in winter months January, February or March when the chilled water system can be drained to accommodate the replacement of the valves, the contractor will be required schedule the work within the VA planed chilled water outage.
