Description

This is a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 159 acres within the Lake George Conservation Area, located in south Putnam County, and north of Georgetown-Denver Road. The Sale Area is located in Section 33; Township 12 south; Range 27 east. Sale boundaries include wetlands, roads, posted boundary, and obvious change in timber type (Maps are included in the attached agreement). Most of the sale area is dry and operable. This is a logger-select thinning in 66 acres of planted longleaf and 93 acres of planted slash pine. Harvesting in the longleaf stands includes removal of every second row and select thinning of leave rows to remove 60% of the total trees . The slash pine stands were fourth row thinned 13 to 21 years ago. Within these stands select thin from the leave rows to reduce density to 50 square feet of basal area per acre. Timber to be removed from all leave rows will be harvested based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. Dominant trees shall not be harvested from leave rows. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 180 tons of mulch, 3,500 tons of pulpwood, and 500 tons of Chip-n-saw, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
