Description | The project work consists of the following approximatemajor quantities: base bid - remark runway 16/34 centerline,runway 12/30 centerline, taxiway centerlines and edge lines, east apron greenisland 49,300 sf of pavement marking-waterborne, and 37,730 sfof pavement marking-black border. Additive alternate #1 - enhanced centerline markings at runways 13,700 sf of pavement marking-waterborne, and 17,600 sfof pavement marking-black border. Instruction to bidders, form of proposals, form ofagreement, specifications, and wage rate are on file andmay be inspected at: office of the airport manager,chicago executive airport, 1020 south plant road,wheeling, illinois 60090, and office of crawford, murphy &tilly, inc., 550 north commons drive, suite 116, aurora, illinois 60504 or online at the website of BHFX DigitalImaging. All addendaissued for this contract shall also be available throughBHFX to registered plan holders as they become available.Each prospective bidder, in evidence of competence, toperform the type of construction or related construction required by the project description, shall furnish to theChicago Executive Airport Board of Directors as aprerequisite to the release of proposal forms, a current,certified or photostatic copy of a "Certificate of Eligibility"issued by the Illinois Department of Transportation inaccordance with IDOT's instructions for Prequalificationof Contractors. As an alternative to Illinois Department of Transportation pre-qualification, a contractor may submit a statement of experience and financial capability to the AirportExecutive Director along with their bid. Said statementshall provide information regarding the successful completion of a minimum of three projects of similar scope andmagnitude within the last two (2) years including projectreference who can verify the contractor's role. The statement will also provide a summary of any outstanding liensor judgments against the contractor or other factors thatmay interfere with the completion of this work. Finally, theContractor shall provide a general summary of financialcapability. Failure to demonstrate experience or financialcapability will be considered cause for disqualification of abidder. Additional information may be requested after thereceipt of bids to further determine that a contemplatedawardee is fully qualified to receive the award. Such statements and information shall be furnished immediatelyupon request. Upon receipt of written notice ofaward, execute such contract and furnish a satisfactoryperformance bond. Upon failure to do so, he shall forfeitthe deposit as liquidated damages and acceptance of thebid will be contingent upon the fulfillment of this requirement by the bidder. The checks or bid bonds of all, except the three (3) lowestresponsible bidders, will be returned within ten (10) daysafter the bids are opened and read. The remaining checksor bid bonds will be refunded as soon as the contract andbond have been properly executed and approved. The successful bidder, as determined by the Owner, will berequired to agree that no less than the prevailing rateof wages will be paid to all workmen, laborers, andmechanics performing their work under this contract. All proposals must be made on forms furnished within thisset of Contract Documents. The successful bidder will be required to furnishperformance and payment bonds satisfactory to the ownerin the amount of the contract. The owner reserves the right to waive or not to waive anyirregularities in the bids and to reject any or all bids and todetermine which is the lowest and best bid or combinationof bids for the improvements. |
