Contract No. 1 - Well Construction and Well Pump

Project Category Code: Water and Wastewater Facilities Description: The Project includes the following Work: A. The work hereafter referred to requires the complete construction and start-up necessary for the facility with all required necessary equipment, generally described, but not limited to, in the following paragraphs: B. Construction of a municipal cased well. Total depth of the well is 750 feet and developed in the Mississippian formation. No mud drilling will be allowed below cemented casing. C. Furnishing and installing submersible well pump and finishing the well in the Mississippian formation. D. The Contractor shall prepare a water well pollution prevention plan (WWPPP) for well construction and well service discharges included in the contract documents. E. Abandonment of Existing Well No. 6, drilled to the Jordan Aquifer and plugged at approximately 1480 feet below grade. F. Bid Alternate Item 1: Continue drilling to the Jordan aquifer, should the conditions in the Mississippian be inadequate for the water demand. Total depth of the well is 1950 feet and finished in the Jordan aquifer. This project is for the construction of Well No. 7, a 750 foot deep well to the Mississippian aquifer, and installation of the well pump. The project is located in the center of Laurel Park, 1213 N. Beek St., Gowrie, IA. Raw watermain and well house improvements will be bid under a separate contract.
