J012--Sprinkler Obstruction and Internal Inspection

1. The contractor shall provide all equipment, labor, materials, and supervision necessary to conduct 5-year obstruction inspection and 5-year Internal Valve Inspection within the main facility and Community Living Center at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. The work shall include the following: a. Provide NFPA 25 required 5-year investigation of alarm valves and their associated strainers, filters and restriction orifices, piping and branch lines on the following sprinkler systems in the main building (Bldg.1) b. Provide NFPA 25 required 5-year investigation of alarm valves and their associated strainers, filters and restriction orifices, piping and branch lines on the Community Living Center (Bldg.27) 2. Vendor shall provide 40 new sprinkler system gauges. Contractor shall replace existing gauges on sprinkler systems with new gauges. The contractor shall sign the date of installation on the back of the gage with indelible ink or paint. (NFPA 25 2014 edition Section 5.3.2.1) Gauges shall be designed, tested and Underwriters Laboratory approved for use in fire suppression systems.” 3. The Safety Office shall coordinate and provide locations of all pieces of equipment for inspection.
