Description | Questions Due Date: Mar 27th 2023, 3:00 PM EDT Questions received after this date and time may not be answered by the County. All questions must be submitted through Bonfire Project Description: This is a project to upgrade the TekAir system for the medical examiner's office. Without intending to limit or restrict the volume of work required by this Specification and the applicable drawings, the work generally consists of: 1. Verify existing control sequences of the lab systems. Verify valve airflow values, space temperatures, supply and exhaust airflow offsets. 2. Provide Method of Procedures for the demolition and new work for the various lab spaces. 3. Remove and reinstall ceiling tiles as needed to perform work above ceilings. 4. Remove existing TekAir lab controls including air valve controllers, lab controllers, fume hood controls, space thermostats, and various sensors. 5. Remove TekAir lab controls network from lab spaces back to BAS. 6. Disconnect control wiring and power wiring from existing lab control system and fume hood controls. Power and control wiring not used shall be removed. 7. Existing air valves shall remain. a. If a valve is deemed inoperable, contractor shall remove existing valve install new valve. b. Cost to remove existing valve and furnish and install new valves shall be provided as a separate bid cost from Base Bid. Provide a replacement bid price for each valve model and size. Refer to valve schedules for existing valve models and sizes. Valve models and sizes to be verified in the field. c. Refer to 15871 Laboratory Airflow Control System for valve requirements. 8. Existing damper actuators and hot water coil control valves shall remain. a. If an air valve damper actuator is not operating properly, contractor shall remove actuator and install new. b. If a hot water coil control valve and/or associated actuator is not operating properly, contractor shall remove valve and actuator and install new to match existing performance requirements. c. Cost to remove damper actuators and hot water coil control valves and furnish and install new damper actuators and hot water coil control valves shall be provided as a separate bid cost from Base Bid. Provide a typical bid price for actuator replacement or control valve replacement. Refer to 15950 Automatic Temperature Controls for actuator and control valve requirements. 9. Furnish and install new lab controls including air valve controllers, lab controllers, fume hood controls, space thermostats, and various sensors. 10. Provide equipment and wiring to provide a complete lab control system which shall be accessible at the existing workstation and remotely via a web browser. 11. Provide hardware and software including system graphics and programming to accommodate new lab controls. 12. Provide new equipment labels. 13. Provide supplemental supports for new control cabinets/enclosures. 14. Provide protection of lab equipment as directed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office representative. 15. Patch/seal holes in fire rated walls and floors to maintain proper fire rating. 16. Provide testing, balancing and adjusting. 17. Provide access doors in ceiling system where required. 18. Provide fire sealing at all openings around pipe and conduit penetrations through fire rated walls and floors. 19. Provide operating and maintenance instructions and manuals. 20. Provide demonstration of successful operation of the lab systems and fume hood controls. 21. Provide training for systems operations. |
