Description

New Active Traffic Management System (ATMS) to support currently four Operation Centers. These Operation Centers are responsible for dispatching CDOT Maintenance patrols, Rapid Response Team Leaders, Courtesy Patrols, and disseminating traffic information to the public through traveler information systems. In addition, Operations will coordinate with law enforcement agencies and local transportation agencies. CDOT has deployed an extensive statewide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure consisting of about 3,500 devices including travel time indicators, variable speed limit signs, digital messaging signs, radar units, ramp meters, lane use signs, blank out signs, automated traffic recorders, cameras, network gear and others.
