Replacement of Power Feed to IIU VOR in Louisville, KY

The Federal Aviation Administration, has a Very High Frequency (VOR) in Louisville, KY, that provides air navigation for pilots on a twenty-four hour basis. The power feed for the facility is direct buried below ground alongside the access road directly to the facility, from pole type transformers mounted on an elevated platform on aged wooden poles, provided by the local utility company. It has been determined that the transformers will be removed, and the primary feed from the main road be buried in conduit via manholes, to a pad mounted transformer closer to the facility. The secondary from the transformer will be buried in conduit to the Main Service Disconnect for the facility. The contractor shall furnish necessary equipment, materials, labor and supervision to perform the following work at the EWA VOR located at 9919 Independence School RD, Louisville, KY 40291 (LAT/LONG: 38.103464, - 85.577430). The facility is a navigational aid that provides information directly to aircraft for navigation. Coordination with the local Electric Utility may be required, and care shall be taken to ensure that all underground utilities are protected, and not damaged in any way. Work within this area may require escort, and possibly badging requirements, which might include background checks for all onsite personnel, and must be coordinated with the FAA Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in advance.
