Description

The University of Massachusetts Medical School Power Plant has six existing cooling towers (No. 1-6). Towers 1-3 are original to the boiler plant built in 1970. Due to the age and condition of Towers 1-3, a refurbishment of these cells is to be completed during the winter of 2020. The refurbishment of the three towers includes demolition and asbestos abatement of the existing transite panel siding, removal and replacement of the fill and drift eliminators, as well as replacement of the existing fans, fan motors, and gear boxes.
