WKMA Burn Sites

The Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet, Division of Engineering and Contract Administration (DECA) intends to retain the services of a qualified remediation contractor to perform corrective action at the former burn sites ("target areas") located within WKMA where elevated lead and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) levels have been detected. The sites include one (1) main target area and three (3) smaller target areas totaling approximately 1.74 acres within the wooded area west of Rice Springs Road and south-southwest of the Six Ponds Fishing area at 37.104188, -88.840748. The project involves the removal and disposal of approximately 1,320 cubic yards of lead impacted soil at an approved Subtitle D Landfill; the utilization of a soil stabilization additive; backfill of the excavated impact area with material harvested from within the WKMA; revegetation of all disturbed areas with preapproved seed mixes; and the preparation of a Corrective Action Report.
