Description

For emergency paving in their employee parking lot. Due to realigned gate access, triggered by the Delaware Avenue construction work, the pavement and drive aisles are now in critical need to surface paving to prevent safety issues for pedestrians and vehicles. The scope of work is for the contractor to provide labor and materials for the following services: 1. Scratch the pavement surface to prepare the surface for tack. 2. Raise the inlet at the Tioga Street entrance gate to grade elevation of the parking lot, but still allowing drainage. Contractor shall provide and install new storm inlet top and 6” riser. 3. In the south parking lot area, contractor shall place additional paving materials to fill the low drainage spot and force drainage towards existing storm drains. 4. Contractor shall have access to the full parking lot over the weekend, free of vehicles. Contractor shall sweep and place tack, then place binder to raise the shallow area in the southern portion of the parking lot, then a 1.5”surface course at the direction of PhilaPort. Temperature requirements shall be 35 degrees Fahrenheit and rising to place the binder materials, and 40 degrees Fahrenheit to place the wearing course. Contractor shall provide material tickets based on tonnage and shall be paid according to the unit pricing on the bid form. 5. Upon completion of the paving, contractor shall provide line striping and stall numbering utilizing white latex striping paint, generally following the striping plan attached as Figure 1. This plan is for layout and estimating only. Final striping plans and total linear footage of striping shall be determined based on final plan, and utilizing the unit pricing from the bid form. Contractor shall also provide two handicap parking spots designated with blue striping paint. 6. In the event that the work cannot be completed within a two-day weekend, contractor shall minimally pave and stripe one half of the parking lot, to be designated by the PhilaPort Engineer, so that parking spaces are available to employees and building occupants during the work week. Contractor shall have access to the remaining parking area on the following weekend, or the next weekend where temperatures meeting the minimum requirements.
