Description

The project includes the renovation of approximately 4,400 sf of the existing 246 seat Science Auditorium to meet the current University’s standards for this type of space. The renovation shall replace the seating (OPCI), finishes, audio/visual, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The new Auditorium shall have approximately 238 new seating (OPCI) with 6 wheelchair accessible spaces. The new seating shall be pedestal mounted with a power duplex/USB connection and tablet arm for each seat. The flooring in the Auditorium shall be replaced to have new carpet flooring. The stair aisles shall be lighted with seat mounted LED light fixtures. The existing stage shall be removed and the existing terrazzo flooring shall be cleaned and repaired as necessary at the Auditorium’s stage and entrance areas. The new ceiling in the Auditorium shall be a stepped acoustical ceiling tile system with LED lighting and new audio/visual equipment. The existing ceiling mounted projector and screen shall be replaced with new wall mounted monitors at the front of the stage and strategically located above the seating area to allow for clear visual presentations. The existing Women’s and Men’s Restrooms shall be renovated to increase the fixture counts and make them ADA compliant. The existing Janitor Closet shall be relocated and upgraded with new fixtures and finishes. The (2) existing drinking fountains shall be replaced with new ADA compliant fixtures. The new Restroom, Janitor, and drinking fountain fixtures and finishes shall be updated to meet the current University’s standards. The Restroom and Janitor Closet upgrades shall require trenching of the existing concrete slab to make the plumbing connections to the existing sanitary lines. The vestibule entrance doors (4 total doors) shall be replaced with an aluminum storefront system with automatic swing doors. The building’s existing Mechanical and Electrical systems shall be demolished and replaced to meet the current HVAC and electrical requirements. The new Mechanical space shall be sized accordingly to fit a new AHU and electrical equipment and shall be tied to the Lamar University BAS. The existing roof (5,500 sf) shall be replaced with a new Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) system. The roof system shall be replaced down to the structural roof deck with a new weather barrier, new flashing, and tapered insulation sloped to the existing roof drains. The existing Auditorium building is currently not equipped with an automatic sprinkler system and the renovation shall not add an automatic sprinkler system.
