Description

The Woodbridge River Passage connects the many open spaces and unique habitat area found along Woodbridge River and its surrounding floodplain. Visitors can walk, jog and bike along nearly four miles of multi-use paths and trails running through woodlands, meadows, tidal marshes and other natural habitats. Portions of the Passage have been restored from previous development to native habitat to protect adjoining neighborhoods from impacts of storms, flooding and tidal surges. At the Heards Brook trailhead, enjoy the restored meadow habitat where flood impacted homes have been replaced with native grasses, sedges, and wildflowers. This vegetation provides additional storage capacity for neighborhood, increasing community resiliency against climate change induced storm impacts. These habitats also increase biodiversity, making the Woodbridge River Passage a great place to view wildlife.
