Campus-Wide HVAC Upgrades Floyd and Heritage

This project will integrate multiple IAQ improvement strategies into one integrated approach using design-build project delivery. The first step and foundation of these strategies will be a study of HVAC systems in buildings on the Floyd and Heritage Hall campuses. The study will result in recommended HVAC systems modifications to improve IAQ and mitigate/reduce the potential for transmission of viruses and pathogens like coronavirus. Expected outcomes of the study are recommendations for air handler repairs/modifications/replacements, replacement/renewal to building automation controls and programs, duct cleaning and/or replacement, and the installation of airborne microbial and particulate elimination technologies such as better filtration, ultraviolet lighting, bi-polar ionization, etc. Cost assumptions to date are conceptual. The cost of work to be installed will be refined in the design-build program to be developed by the project team, heavily relying on the design and costing services
