Walnut Creek Floodgates Repair

Site Directions: Near the intersection of Grand Avenue and 63rd street in West Des Moines Description: The Walnut Creek Floodgates Repair includes the furnishing of labor and materials for the repairs to the flood protection structures. The repairs consist of surface preparation and painting to all painted steel elements, the drilling of drain holes, partial removal and replacement of the steel deck floodgates, the removal and replacement of the overhead gate rubber seals, along with traffic control, miscellaneous maintenance items, and adjustments. Some of the work shown on the construction documents will be performed by the City and is shown for reference only. The project is located near the intersection of Grand Avenue and 63rd street in West Des Moines Iowa. Work on said project may commence any time after the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by July 31st, 2024 *At the above time and place all bids received by the City will be opened and publicly read with the results being reported to the West Des Moines City Council at their meeting on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at 5:35 p.m at which time the Council may take action on the proposals submitted or at such time as may then be fixed. The City of West Des Moines is proposing a project to repair the Walnut Creek floodgates on Grand Avenue near Iowa 28, and on Iowa 28 near Ashworth Road. The repairs consist of surface preparation and painting to all painted steel elements, the drilling of drain holes, partial removal and replacement of the steel deck floodgates to match the profile at the sill, the removal and replacement of the overhead gate rubber seals, and Attached to this plan is a vicinity map showing the Walnut Creek floodgate locations and a detail sheet showing the floodgate repairs.
