Multi-Building Elevator Renovation - General

Kolf Sports Center: Elevator & Air Handling Units Replacement. The work includes removing the elevator, expanding and reconstructing the elevator shaft to accommodate a larger cab size that will more adequately serve the needs of the facility. In order to accommodate the larger elevator shaft size, three air handling units in an adjacent mechanical room will be removed and replaced with one air handling unit with variable air volume boxes. An existing roof mounted condenser and non functioning indoor chiller evaporator will be removed. Campus chilled water piping will be extended from Taylor Hall into Kolf Polk Library: Elevator Replacements. The work includes replacing two existing passenger hydraulic elevators, including the hydraulic cylinders, with new double bottom cylinders with PVC piping, controllers, pumping units, fixtures and door equipment. The elevator cabs will be rebuilt, and all elevator cab surfaces will be replaced; or the cabs will be replaced entirely. The work includes partitioning a portion of an existing space into a new code compliant elevator machine room in the lower level for the north elevator as well as code required upgrades to 1 plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems serving the elevators.
