Description

The work includes, but is not limited to: Renovations to the existing building. The gym in the existing building will be renovated and transformed into the new entryway to the building. This renovation will shift the primary entry to the building from its current location to this new area that will include improved visibility from the parking lot, a new lobby with a waiting area and a new steel pergola directly outside of the new vestibule addition that will highlight the new entrance There will also be some demolition and modifications to interior spaces in the area adjacent to the new entrance, including major demolition and renovation of existing restrooms. The rest of the project includes finish upgrades in the entirety of the education wing of the building. These finish upgrades will include demolition of all existing finishes and new work including carpet, ceilings, new LED lighting and paint in all of the rooms in that area. The construction work shall commence on or about October 3, 2022. Substantial Completion of the Project shall be September 29, 2023, and Final Completion of all punch list items October 13, 2023. The Project is funded by Community Development Block Grant Program. Wage Determination wages are required, along with records of employee wages paid and hours worked in compliance with requirements outlined in the specifications. See Attached Section 3 Clause that follows this Notice Bid Security in the amount of 5% of the bid in the form of a Bid Bond on form AIA A310, cashier's check, certified share draft or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or credit union chartered under the laws of the United States shall accompany each bid in a separate, sealed envelope. Bid Security shall be payable to YSS By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown, and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and preference will also be given to Iowa domestic labor in the construction of said improvements Upon award of a contract, the successful Contractor will be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond equal to 100% of the awarded Contract amount, and within the time set forth within the Contract Documents, and other required forms stated above for compliance with the Owner's Community Block Grant Program. The Contractor shall also furnish a copy of its Certificate(s) of Insurance showing coverage is being provided consistent with that stated within the Project Manual. The Project shall be paid for in cash or in warrants drawn on such funds as may be legally used for such purposes and available to the Owner. Final payment to the Contractor shall be made as allowed by the Code of Iowa. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract deemed to be in the best interests of Youth and Shelter Services.
