Description

184201, 202001 The Work to be performed under this Contract generally includes the construction of a new Catawba County Emergency Medical Services Base Station located at 4447 Section House Rd., Hickory, North Carolina 28601 and other incidentals as shown on the Drawings and noted in the Specifications. This project is a brick and block structure with an approximately 2,740 sf Vehicle Bay with six (8) overhead sectional doors with clerestory windows with a TPO (PVC) roofing system. A block and brick base station office area with approximately 1,100 sf. with offices, restrooms, dayroom, kitchen, storage, etc. The new building shall be constructed as per drawings and specifications. The project also consists of all new site work, parking, generator, screen walls, etc. per drawings and specifications. In addition, complete plans, specifications and contract documents will be available for inspection at Winstead Architecture, PLLC, 22 North Main Ave. Newton, North Carolina, (1 st Floor - Newton Professional Building), 828-464-2827. Neither Owner or the Office of the Architect will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from any other source other than those listed above. Immediately thereafter bids shall be publically opened and read by the Architect for furnishing of labor, materials, and equipment for the construction of the new Catawba County EMS Base Station. The project location is 4447 Section House Rd., Hickory, North Carolina 28601. If forwarded by mail, the sealed envelope containing the bid must be marked with the following on the exterior: SEALED BID ENCLOSED, Catawba County EMS Base Station, Bid #304-22-1001, and with the name, address, and North Carolina Contractor License Number of the Bidder. The sealed envelope shall be addressed to the attention of Sandra Martin, Catawba County Purchasing Manager, 25 Government Drive, Newton, North Carolina, 28658. Do not send or deliver bids to the Architects office. The Architect will not be responsible for delivery of bids to the bid opening. It is the bidding contractor's sole responsibility to deliver bids to the specific place at the specific time for the bid opening. It is the contractor's sole responsibility to deliver each bid to the proper party designated to open the bids. To qualify, all bids shall be submitted using bid forms contained in the Bidding and Contract Requirements, and submittal of all information requested in the Instructions to Bidders. Incomplete or segregated bids will not be accepted. Questions regarding the Scope of Work, bid process or bid documents must be delivered in writing to Stan Winstead in the office of the Architect, Post Office Box 321, Newton, North Carolina 28658, Phone (828) 464-2827, Fax (828) 464-3229, Email winarch@bellsouth.net no later than 4:00 PM. Eastern Time, on July 19, 2022. All questions received before the deadline will be addressed in an Addendum. Any questions received after the deadline will not be addressed prior to the Bid Opening. Do not contact the owner with questions All bids must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or original bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total base bid amount made payable to Catawba County. A Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment bond, each in the amount equal to 100% of the Contract Sum, will be required to be furnished at the execution of the Contract Documents. The awarded Contractor will be required to furnish Property Insurance in the form of an "All Risk" or equivalent policy form, equal to the value of the Contract including any Change Orders added during the life of the contract. All bidders are notified that Catawba County has a verifiable five percent (5%) goal for participation by minority owned and women owned businesses in the total value of Work for which prime contractors are awarded pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes Section 143-128. All bidders are hereby notified that all contractors and sub-contractors working on the project site shall comply with Catawba County Substance Abuse/Drug-Free Policy and Catawba County Smoke-Free Policy. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after receipt of bids except as provided in Instructions to Bidders. All bidders are hereby notified that they must be properly licensed under the state laws governing their prospective trades. Bidders are also notified that applicable provisions of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina shall be observed in the receiving of bids and awarding of contracts for the Work. The Owner reserves the right to waive informalities and to reject any and/or all bids.
