Description

Project replaces the deteriorating Cushing Creek box culvert that serves Enderts Beach Road, which is a historic section of the original highway 101 corridor in Redwood National Park. The 60 linear feet (LF), 4' x 4' concrete box culvert is wearing substantially on interior surfaces from the high velocities and debris flow from Cushing Creek. The bottom portion of the culvert has multiple scour holes and water flow is undermining the culvert structure. The culvert lies approximately 18' deep under the roadway surface. A new 7'x7' concrete box culvert will be installed. New reinforced concrete headwalls will be installed on either ends of the culvert. This project replaces a deteriorating 4' x 4' concrete box culvert with a 7' x 7' prefabricated reinforced concrete box culvert with concrete headwalls in the same footprint. The project also includes approximately 100' of roadway replacement above the box culvert, along with the associated revegetation of slopes and permanent traffic control.
