Description

The City of Ames currently has 22 potable water wells located in four well fields within Ames. This solicitation covers the procedure for the physical and chemical rehabilitation of 21 potable water wells in the City of Ames, Iowa. Wells included in these specifications are located around the City. The contractor shall perform rehabilitation work on each well as outlined and described in the specifications. The contract will be for one year with four one-year renewal options. Contract renewal will be based on the owner's decision to renew based on the owner's satisfaction with the work during the previous year and on the Ames City Council authorizing funding. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The City Manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 o'clock p.m. local time on July 26, 2022. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. After award and approval of contract and performance bond, work on this contract shall substantially completed no later than June 30, 2023. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
