Description

All bids must be accompanied by bid security equal to five percent (5%) of the sum of the base bid and all alternates, and must be in the form of a certified check, cashiers check or Bid Bond Form written by a surety company licensed to do business in Louisiana, signed by the suretys agency or attorney-in-fact. Surety must be listed on the current U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Management Service list of approved bonding companies as approved for an amount equal to or greater than the amount for which it obligates itself in the Bond, or must be a Louisiana domiciled insurance company with at least an A- rating in the latest printing of the A.M. Bests Key Rating Guide. If surety qualifies by virtue of its Bests listing, the amount of the Bond may not exceed ten percent of policyholders surplus as shown in the latest A.M The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond written by a company licensed to do business in Louisiana, in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract amount. Surety must be listed currently on the U.S. Department of Treasury Financial management Service List (Treasury List) as approved for an amount equal to or greater than the contract amount, or must be an insurance company domiciled in Louisiana or owned by Louisiana residents. If surety is qualified other than by listing on the Treasury list, the contract amount may not exceed fifteen percent of policyholders surplus as shown by suretys most recent financial statements filed with the Louisiana Department of Insurance and may not exceed the amount of $500,000. However, a Louisiana domiciled insurance company with at least an A- rating in the latest printing of the A.M. Bests Key Rating Guide shall not be subject to the $500,000 limitation, provided that the contract amount does not exceed ten percent of policyholders surplus as shown in the latest A.M. Bests Key Rating Guide nor fifteen percent of policyholders surplus as shown by suretys most recent financial statements filed with the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The Bond shall be signed by the suretys agent or attorney-in-fact The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids for just cause. In accordance with La. R.S. 38:2212 (A)(1)(b), the provisions and requirements of this Section, those stated in the advertisement for bids, and those required on the bid form shall not be considered as informalities and shall not be waived by any public entity The work under this Contract shall consist of furnishing and installing all materials and labor required to complete interior Laboratory Renovations to Rooms 607 and 703 located on the sixth and seventh floors of Choppin Hall per the attached drawings. Environmental abatement shall take place before demolition and construction to remove all asbestos containing materials in both labs. See Appendix B for abatement details. The Work includes renovation of approximately 1,120 interior square feet. The work shall consist of new chemical resistant epoxy resin work tops, the refurbishment of the existing sidewall base cabinets, new VCT flooring, repainting of all interior wall, repainting of interior ceiling, refurbishment of the existing wall shelving and bracket system, sanding and refinishing of the existing entry doors, new LED lighting fixtures, new glass marker boards and accessories, and new island casework, worktops, and equipment in both labs. The fume hoods in room 607 shall be replaced with existing fume hoods that are located on the 7th floor hallway of Choppin Hall, and the fume hood base cabinets will be replaced with existing base cabinets that are located on the 5th floor of the Chemistry and Materials Building. The middle fume hood exhaust will be repurposed to serve 3 new exhaust snorkels. Additive Alternate #1: This additive alternate consists of removing the existing side wall base cabinets on both the West and East wall in Room 703 and replacing them with new base cabinets. Additive Alternate #2: This additive alternate consists of removing the existing side wall base cabinets on the West wall in Room 607 and replacing them with new base cabinets. Work shall be in accordance with LSU Facility Services Design Standards, this Project Manual, and the attached drawings and any issued addenda. All construction materials/equipment are to be brought to the site via freight elevator. If the freight elevator is not available and Contractor would like to use a passenger elevator, Contractor is to obtain prior authorization from LSU PDC/Facility Services and provide proper protection. Unless otherwise specified, the Contractor shall supply all labor, transportation, materials, apparatus, fuel, energy, light, and tools necessary for the entire, proper and substantial completion of the work shown on the drawings and described in these specifications. He shall install, maintain, and remove all construction equipment and auxiliary devices and shall be responsible for the safe, proper and lawful maintenance and use of sums; and shall construct in the best and most workmanlike manner a complete job and everything properly incidental thereto, as shown on the plans, stated in the specifications or reasonably implied therefrom, all in accordance with the Contract Documents.
