Description

Project will restore a minimum of 0.228 acres (12,197 SF) of riparian habitat to mitigate for impacts that are anticipated to occur with the realignment of Lucas Valley Road at mile post 5.08. Located behind Marin County’s Juvenile Services Center at 4 Jeanette Prandi Way, between the creek crossings at Mt. Lassen Drive and Lucas Valley Drive, the project involves the use of bio-technical strategies to address the creek bank instability; and the use of woody debris to improve in-stream habitat for salmonids and to facilitate sediment deposition to reverse the trend of channel incision in this reach of Miller Creek. Scope includes grading, the installation of brush mattresses, the installation of living riffles comprised partially of live willow stakes, native species seeding and planting and a new fence.
