Description | Project Location: Approximately 400' south of the Griffy Creek stream crossing at Bloomington Griffy Lake Dam Trail Crossing Constructions This project titled 'Griffy Lake Dam Trail Crossing' shall include, but is not limited to improvements including site preparation, excavation, earthwork, fill, approximately 850 feet of trail construction, demolition, construction of fencing, and the construction of an approximately 200-foot long staircase at the site of the Griffy Lake Dam on N Dunn St. in Bloomington, IN. A trail will be constructed along the crest of Griffy Lake Dam (State ID 53-3)with connectivity to the parking lot at the downstream toe of the dam. The segment of trail along the dam crest will complete a loop around the lake with connectivity to existing trails along the north and south shores of the lake. The scope of work includes constructing an 860' long. 12" wide gravel (base bid) or concrete (alternate bid) trail along the dam crest with the area of trail construction excavated and backfilled to maintain the existing dam crest elevation of 642.5'. NAVD 1088. The project also includes installing cedar spilt rail and chain link fence along the crest to keep trail users off the dam and installing signage to direct trail users to stay off the dam. At the west end of the dam a 170" long. 6' wide, elevated wooden staircase will be constructed on the downstream slope of the dam to carry the trail from the dam crest to the base of the dam and an existing gravel parking lot. Riprap will be placed over a geotextile fabric beneath and adjacent to the stairs. |
