Description

The Fresh Air Unit that cools the Pathology building is at the end of its useful life and need replacement. Project was placed in the 2020 PIMC FEPP under HVAC Improvements. Lab needs about 25 tons (currently has 22 tons and that is not sufficient, especially when there is high humidity) of cooling and 4,000 CFM (or CFM flow design to make sure the building is cooled or heated properly with 100% outside air) and possibly with a variable frequency drive. The lab also needs more that 26 KW of heat (this is what the current system has and it is not adequate). PIMC would like to request a heat pump maybe with supplemental electric heat if needed (that can be used for humidity re-heat and heat when the outside temperature is low or hot gas reheat). PIMC would also like to request a side discharge which would not necessitate a custom curb, just moving a ductless mini-split and adding concrete for a pad.
