Description

Construct a minimum of 1 mile (5,280 ft) of new multi-use path within the City of Leitchfield’s James D. Beville Park. Path shall be multi-use for walking and bicycling with approx. 2,000 ft intended to be accessible to those with mobility impairments. The proposed trail shall build upon an existing popular trail facility and provide a more intensive experience for many people in the community that utilize the park. It will encourage a more active and healthier lifestyle for many community residents. This new trail extension shall connect to the existing walking trail and shall accentuate and link the more natural areas of the park with the more focused recreational activities offered in the park. The portion of the new trail with the greatest elevation changes will be designated for mutli-use (walking/bicylcles) to offer a more challenging recreational experience while the portion adjacent to the baseball/softball complex shall be more level and offer an experience more suitable for ADA accessibility. A trailhead access point shall be added below the Baseball/Softball field parking and shall be a minimum size of 50’ x 10’. Trailhead is intended to contain a bench, bicycle rack, trash and recycling receptacles, as well as an information kiosk sign. A minimum of four additional pads shall be installed adjacent to the new trail and include a bench as well as trash and recycling receptacles.
