Contractor will provide temporary safety barriers and signage for protection of people and the work during construction. 9. Contractor shall be responsible for providing the following work tasks for the erosion control work based on the construction documents developed for the project. a. Installation of a storm sewer running parallel to the top of the bluff conventionally by open cutting a trench with drainage inlets placed at regular intervals. b. Grading improvements including a shallow swale to capture the runoff flowing toward the bluff and to convey the runoff into the sewer inlets. c. Connecting any existing storm sewer lines to the new sewer system running perpendicular to the bluff installed by directional drilling methods to eliminate point source discharges onto the side of the bluff. d. Installing an anchored sheet pile retaining wall at the top of the slope with the sheet pile wall driven down 25 to 30 feet from the top of the slope. e. Placing a cap on the top of the sheet pile retaining wall and anchoring a new FBI approved security fence at the top of the wall. f. Providing slope improvements to include brush removal, selective tree removal, and tree trimming to open the bluff ground to sunlight. g. The bluff should then be revegetated with deep rooted grasses to hold the surface topsoil in place and resist erosion. h. Place and install armor stone, similar to the stone used along the lakefront south of the FBI Training Facility in Foss Park, at the toe of the slope to reduce the regression of the crest of the slope and protect the toe of the slope from wave action. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement.
