Description

This project is part of the Eastern Shore Drive Flood Protection Program Master Project. It includes design, property acquisition, and construction of a stormwater pump station in the south side of Lynnhaven Colony Park with Kleen Street located to the west, Cape Henry Trail to the south, and Starfish Road to the east. It is now being combined with 1: Cape Henry Canal Phase II – Widen & Deepen Canal, 2: Lynnhaven Drive Pump Station, and 3: Elevate Lynnhaven Drive. Cape Henry Canal Phase II - widen and deepen Cape Henry Canal; Upgrade pipe crossings between Starfish Road and Beech Street. Lynnhaven Drive Pump Station - 120 cfs stormwater pump station and automated tide gate near the intersection of Lynnhaven Drive and West Great Neck Road. Elevate Lynnhaven Drive - elevate Lynnhaven Drive at the intersection of West Great Neck Road and Lynnhaven Drive and a small section of Ebb Tide Road; Protect area from overland tidal flow inundation up to 7.0 feet. Project is included City of Virginia Beach FY 2023 - 2028 CIP. As of February 28, 2023, a design team has been identified. Project is expected to advertise to bid in early 2024 with construction completion in late 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
