Description

Two optional contract extensions for the periods of May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023 and May 1, 2023 through April 30, 2024 1. Approximately 120 miles of street sweeping along curb and gutter sections of the City. The sweeping services shall include three general sweeping services between May 1, 2021 and April 30, 2022. Each sweeping occurrence is estimated to be completed within the specified hours as indicated within the schedules. At a minimal two vacuum sweeping trucks will be required for each sweeping. All emergency services or special sweepings will require one apparatus, unless otherwise requested. The Municipal Superintendent shall provide the vendor a two week advance notice for the sweeping service or within the time frames as indicated on pages 12 - 14. Emergencies will require the vendor to be at the site within two hours of the initial contact. 2. The vendor shall have clean, representable, fully functional equipment displaying the vendor’s name. The equipment shall have the ability to vacuum, and to sweep dry and or wet. The vacuum units must have a suction of not less than 8000 cubic feet per minute (cfm). The vacuum units must have functioning gutter brooms mounted on both sides of the unit and the ability to sweep and vacuum from either side. All trucks shall be equipped with a minimal eight cubic yard dump box. The sweeper shall have the ability to sweep and vacuum an eight foot wide pass. 3. The vendor/driver shall be responsible for removing silt, aggregates, earthen products, paper, plastic as well as additional miscellaneous debris along the City’s curb and gutter lines. The City will supply a water meter and water for the sweeper at no additional charge. The driver shall carry a mobile telephone to be able to communicate with City 5 staff if required. A disposal site will be made available at the Public Works facility. The disposal will be the responsibility of the City of Darien. All hourly rates are based on actual arrival and departure time at or from the Public Works Facility located at 1041 South Frontage Road, or as coordinated with the Public Works Superintendent. The driver shall be required to provide a signed copy of the time in/out sheet. Sweeping Services may be conducted Monday through Saturday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The Emergency Sweeping Services shall have a three hour minimal charge and shall be available within two hours of a callout Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The awarded vendor shall provide an emergency 24- hour telephone contact. The hourly rate shall include the equipment and labor to provide the necessary sweeping services.
