Description | Includes the addition (building b) to and alterations to the existing salem county superior courthouse located at 92 market street (building a), and the existing salem county administration building located at 98 market street(building c) to accommodate spatial requirements of the “nj courthouse facility design guidelines” and bring the courthouse up to current courthouse standards. the addition of building b will include four new courtrooms including supporting judges chambers, jury deliberation rooms, secure holding, jury assembly room and support space, new training room, and a large lobby and new main entrance. new secure judicial parking is located at the grade level of the addition. the addition of building b is adjacent to existing building a separated by a 3-hour fire wall. building b is also connected via connecting corridor to building c, also separated with a firewall. the project goal is to create a consolidated courthouse. all buildings function as independently mechanically and electrically, and buildings separated by firewalls. the addition is three stories above grade with a partial basement and will include assembly, business, institution & storage occupancy uses. alterations to building a create workspaces that meet the minimum requirements of the new jersey courts courthouse facility standards for the family, civil criminal and surrogate court departments, and allow for the public to access the new building b. included as part of the alteration of building a are new public bathrooms, upgraded finishes to the existing courtrooms, and upgraded mechanical and electrical equipment. the alteration will not change the building occupancy. alterations to building c create workspaces that meet the minimum requirements of the new jersey courts courthouse facility standards for the probation departments on the second and third floor. the first floor, which currently houses the sheriff’s department will remain, and is not included in the scope of work. included as part of the alteration of building are upgraded mechanical and electrical equipment. the alteration will not change the building occupancy. |
