Description | The project work consists of constructing a 0.3-acre artificial reef, consisting of limestone boulders placed atop filter fabric, inside Fort Pierce Inlet, St. Lucie County, Florida. The project requires provision, loading, and hauling of limestone boulders from a county-approved quarry and geotextile filter fabric to a county-approved staging area, transferring the material to an appropriate offshore conveyance (e.g. barge), and transport and deployment within the specified artificial reef area. The Contractor shall provide and install all materials and provide all labor and equipment necessary to construct the reef as shown in the Drawings, described in the Permits, and specified in the Contract Documents. For the purpose of bidding and project planning, the estimated tonnage of limestone boulders is 1,695 tons and acreage of filter fabric (excluding overlap) is 13,200 square feet; however, project construction may entail slightly more or less rock and fabric. The contract will include provision, transport, and deployment of the limestone boulders and filter fabric as unit cost items, as well as mobilization/demobilization, environmental protection, record drawings, and surveys as lump sum items. |
