Description

The City of Bristol parks system is expansive; with over 730 acres of park land including two major active parks with over 100 acres each (Page & Rockwell), 8 neighborhood parks, a lighted stadium, an indoor aquatics facility, the Veterans Memorial Boulevard, and four open space (passive) parks. Amenities include 3 water spray parks, 14 tennis courts (5 lighted), 6 lighted sand volleyball courts, 1 modified pickle ball court, 7 fishing areas, 2 horseshoe pits, 2 bocce courts, 6 basketball courts, 6 pre-school playscapes, an ADA compliant accessible playground, para-fitness course, 4 baseball diamonds, 6 (3 lighted) softball diamonds, jogging path, metered walking path, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, 2 eighteen hole disc golf courses, 2 off-leash dog parks, and a skate park plaza. The master plan identified certain elements of importance for improvement at Kern Park. The Board of Park Commissioners established priorities for improvement, to accommodate completion of work within the defined budget, as follows: Install fencing at the northern perimeter of the park and around tennis court areas. Install education kiosks throughout the trails and make other incidental trail repairs as needed. Create more formal entrance into area at the shopping center entrance. Install trail maps at all entrances. Resurface tennis courts. Please note that the Board of Parks may pursue replacement of the tennis courts with pollinator gardens. The City will assign an owner representative for this project, and all work will be coordinated through the owner representative to facilitate efficient completion of efforts required by the Owner.
