Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Material Testing Services

The consulting engineering firm shall perform professional services, including construction materials testing and engineering services, as follows: 1. Pavement and soil survey explorations, including soil test borings, geotechnical field and laboratory tests, and pavement core sampling. 2. Geotechnical site evaluations for structures and bridges, including soil test borings, split barrel and tube sampling, geotechnical laboratory testing and engineering recommendations for foundation design and construction. 3. General recommendations for pavement repair and maintenance, including pavement and pathway section design and pavement stability recommendations. 4. Field inspection of highway, bridge and underground construction at the direction of the City Project Supervisor 5. Construction materials testing services for bridge, highway and underground construction projects,including: a) Field sampling of aggregate and hot mix asphalt b) Inspection and recommendations for subgrade preparation and subgrade undercut. c) Field compaction testing using nuclear moisture/density equipment. d) Concrete batch plant set-up inspection in accordance with MDOT, RCOC and NRMCA specifications. e) Mix design development or review for Portland cement concrete and hot mix asphalt. f) Field concrete placement inspection and testing to determine temperature, slump, yield and entrained air content. Field preparation of compressive and flexural strength test samples. g) Laboratory testing for Portland cement concrete, bituminous materials and aggregates and granular back fill materials. Work to be performed in accordance with applicable AASHTO and MDOT specifications. h) Precast concrete shop inspection for concrete pipe and concrete bridge beams.
