Culvert Maintenance

Furnish all labor, material, and equipment necessary to perform and complete the work as identified in the attached “R-20-8 Culvert Maintenance” at the locations and to the specifications outlined in attached documents identified in Sections 2 and 29 of this Agreement. Per Structure Safety Report #910656, in barrel #2 approximately 8 feet from the inlet there is joint separation between segment 1 and 2 along the bottom of the pipe for approximately 11 feet, ranging up to 6 inches wide, exposing fill and presenting no apparent undermining. PREPARATION Perform work during a dry period with no water in barrel 2, or divert water from barrel 2 to either or both adjacent barrels. Sound the pipe around the joint to determine the extent of any voids behind the pipe. Flatten the edges of the pipe joint to ensure the edges are flush or below the pipe invert. REPAIR Fill voids behind the pipe with foam or grout, then finish the inside of the joint with a hydraulic cement or grout, flush with the invert. MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT Culvert Joint Repair will be paid for at the lump sum price bid and will be full compensation for all work including any stream diversion, void exploration, and joint preparation, and shall include the cost of labor, tools, equipment, and incidentals necessary to complete the work.
