Description

The Project is to perform repairs, modifications and painting of the City of Thornton’s 136th Avenue and Garfield Street Water Storage Tank. The tank is a 5 million gallon welded steel tank with a diameter of 160’-0” and a 33’-6” side wall height. The tank has a welded steel roof supported by interior steel columns and beams. Repair and modification work generally includes all labor, materials and equipment to: - Remove and Replace the existing manway with a larger manway; - Remove and replace the center roof vent with a new frost proof center roof vent; - Install 3 additional roof vents - Remove and replace interior (wet) ladder; - Remove and replace exterior ladder; - Installation of new roof edge railing (20 linear feet) - Reattach existing communications antenna cabling; - Structural strengthening of existing corroded steel roof support beams. Involves field welding of steel bar to existing beams. - Replacement of corroded or missing connection bolts at steel roof support beams - Grouting at tank base flange (approximately 25% of tank circumference) - Cathodic protection system replacement. - Completely remove the existing interior coating, and - Remove, haul and properly dispose of all demolition debris including residuals from recoating procedure.
