Description | The Frederick County Courthouse (Courthouse) is secured by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO). FCSO has determined a need for additional areas of protection throughout the facility in security screening areas to protect against US National Institute of Justice (NIJ) ballistic III threats. While the integrity of the overall historic nature of the building must remain intact, approval has been granted for clear bidirectional NIJ Level III panels to be installed in three locations. Each panel shall be clear and have FCSO star emblem centered on each panel. While bidirectional panels are preferred, the County intends to award either the bidirectional or the unidirectional panels, not both groups, dependent upon the cost to the County. Three areas have been designated for ballistic panels: The Courthouse Main Entrance, Courthouse Side Entrance and the Courthouse Rear Entrance. See Exhibit 1 for pictures and floor plans of all designated areas. While the County has immediate need for the panels designated by the red lines in the Floor Plans, the County is open to additional solution designs for these areas. | ||
