Description

Asphalt Roof Replacement for Field House at Veterans Athletic Complex. Project Background The roof of the Athletic Complex Field House is 22 years old. The Town of Clinton would like this roof removed and replaced with new asphalt shingle construction. The dormers are weathered and will be covered with vinyl siding. The facility will be in full use by our Maintenance Staff and School Personnel to accommodate the Fall Athletic Schedule throughout the project. The building and surrounding grounds must be properly cleaned and all equipment/materials must be properly secured at the end of each shift. SCOPE OF WORK A. Strip off all of the existing roof shingles, nails, felt or membrane underlayment, metal drip edge, existing ridge vents and other flashing on all buildings listed in the Summary of Work and legally dispose of all debris. Verify that the existing sheathing is in good condition, identifying for examination by the Licensed Professional all areas that show evidence of damaged sheathing. Should there be areas of sheathing or framing deterioration as determined by direct examination and in consultation with the Licensed Professional these areas will be replaced at a price listed in the schedule of Unit Prices. B. Flashing: New aluminum step flashing will be installed where required by standard practices with lead counter flashing imbedded mortared into all brick veneer side walls. All valleys will be covered with one 36" width of self-adhering rubber membrane (bithithane - ice & water shield) extending 18" up from each side of the valley. The bottoms of all roof planes will be covered with two layers (72" total) with the same membrane. 8" Aluminum drip edge will then be secured on top of the membrane along all roof edges. C. New continuous ridge vents will be installed at the peak of all mono-plane roofs, secured and flashed in accordance with Mfr's. requirements. D. Gutters and downspouts are to be protected and returned to operating condition at the end of the Work. The Contractor will be required to replace any gutters or downspouts damaged during the project. Replacement gutters and downspouts shall be new. E. Patching and Repairs- Perform all necessary patching and repairs to the items scheduled to remain. Questions concerning this Invitation for Bids must be submitted in writing to: Brian Farragher, Director of Facilities and Grounds, Clinton Town Hall, 242 Church Street, Clinton, MA 01510 or email at bfarragher@clintonma.gov. All inquiries received two (2) or more days prior to the opening will be considered. Questions may be emailed, delivered, mailed, or faxed. Written responses will be emailed, mailed or faxed to all proposers on record. If any changes are made to this IFB, an addendum will be issued. Addenda will be emailed, mailed or faxed to all proposers on record. Project awarded to -Webster Ma
