Description

Professional Engineering Services from qualified professional Engineering firms registered in the State of Florida herein referred to as "RFQ Respondents" to provide design, permitting and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services for a leachate treatment, storage and spray field disposal systems for the County landfill. DeSoto County’s landfill is located at 3268 SW Dishong Avenue, Arcadia, Florida. Permitted by FDEP (Permit No. 42079-011-SO/01), the Section 16 landfill has been in operation since 1981 and includes 3 closed cells, 1 partially closed cell and an active cell. Leachate from closed and active portions of the landfill are collected via an under-drain system and pumped by two lift stations to 2 lined storage ponds located on the south side of the landfill. Presently, the County transports the leachate using a tanker truck to the City of Arcadia’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. In the rainy season, the landfill can generate in excess of 40,000 gallons of leachate per day. Due to concentrations within the leachate (primarily ammonia), there are restrictions in the volume allowed to be transported to the City plant. DeSoto County has explored alternative methods of disposal.
