Description

The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the following scope of work: 1. Cutting two (2) large tree trunks, as depicted in the photographs attached as Exhibit A, consisting of 15 foot and 17 foot diameters on-site at the property known as 1343 and 1345 Bacons Bridge Road, (a.k.a. SC Highway 165), Summerville, SC 29485 into smaller sections or pieces so that they can be made secure to fit on the back of low-body tractor trailer or in a dump truck without hanging into oncoming traffic for purposes of transporting in a safe manner. The County intends to reuse the tree trunks for carving of a sculpture to serve as a focal art for placement within a prominent location in a public park. Smaller remaining sections or branches might be carved into a wooden bench or table for use in a park. Therefore, cuttings of the two trees shall be done to respect and retain as much integrity of the main trunk in a large rectangular piece separating the branches and root ball from the main trunk. 2. The tree trunks shall be loaded and securely anchored. All traffic safety precautions including means and methods shall be adhered to for transporting on public roadways in South Carolina. If a mechanical crane is needed to lift the tree trunks, the contractor shall provide for said equipment in the price. 3. The tree trunks shall be anchored and made secure to legally travel and be transported from the site for a distance of +/- 3.0 miles on local, county and state roadways within the jurisdictional boundaries of Dorchester County, South Carolina transporting the material to the Dorchester County Water and Sewer Department situated at 235 Deming Way, Summerville, SC 29483. For purposes of this quotation it would be presumed the contractor would make no more than two (2) round trips from the subject location to the new destination. Therefore, we would suggest no greater than 15 miles of total travel distance be factored into your quote allowing for up to two (2) round trips. 4. Upon arrival at the new location the material shall be unloaded by the contractor to a designated storage area behind the Dorchester County Water and Sewer Department Facility and placed in the gravel parking lot and made secure. 5. It is the intent that transporting can be done during normal business hours on a weekday, Monday through Friday. The project shall not cause any delays in traffic or road closures. The contractor shall do his or her best to only take up one (1) lane of traffic while transporting the material. An outside land closure may be needed if transporting is done by a low boy. Escorting vehicles shall be considered in the price and used if necessary. Flaggers, safety flags, traffic vehicle escorts and guides shall be used as necessary. 6. The contractor shall coordinate with all agencies involved with providing emergency response with respect to impacts on potential traffic control as it relates to the project. 7. Contractor is responsible for providing a certificate of insurance to satisfy the requirements of the county
