Description | The project generally consists of improvements to the filters, including concrete repair and replacement of filter media, filter underdrains, wash water troughs, surface wash equipment, handrails and appurtenant work. All Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly labeled Bid and also marked with the Project name, Bid date, and Bid opening time. Bids submitted via delivery service, such as FedEx, must be addressed to Purchasing Manager - BID with instructions to Deliver to Bid Box located at Employee Entrance, Door #19 at 475 Norris Drive, Rochester, NY. (Bidderssubmitting Bids via delivery service have sole responsibility to call the Authority's Purchasing Department and confirm receipt of the Bid). Bids submitted via US Postal Service will be returned, unopened. Each Bid must be accompanied by a deposit in the form of a certified check made payable to the Monroe County Water Authority, or Bid Bond in a form and from a Surety acceptable to the Authority, to the favor of the Authority, in the amount of 5% of the total amount of the Bid. Where alternate items are included, the Bid security shall include the alternate which results in the highest Bid price. The Authority reserves the right to reject any or all Bids. 1 DESCRIPTION A. Furnish, install, and test new filter media as specified herein. Filter media shall be provided for four filters (Filter Nos. 9, 10, 11, and 12) with an approximate area of 1,470 square feet each. The filters shall consist of 30 inches of granular activated carbon (GAC) above 12 inches of sand. 1. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for the removal and transport of spent GAC from the filters and for the supply and installation of virgin GAC into the filters. B. Furnish, install, and test new underdrain systems with media retainer cap as specified herein for three filters (Filter Nos. 9, 10, and 11) with an approximate area of 1,470 square feet each. C. Furnish, install, and test five fiberglass wash water troughs and supports as specified herein in each of the eight half filter cells (Filter Nos. 9, 10, 11, and 12). D. Furnish, install, and test the surface wash agitator system in each of the eight half filter cells (Filter Nos. 9, 10, 11, and 12). E. Repair Filter No. 12 underdrain as directed by the Owner and Engineer, refer to Bid Item B- 2. F. Contractor shall be responsible for coordination of supplies of materials and equipment specified herein. Coordination required during demolition, construction, startup, and testing. |
