Acequia Trail Extension From Rufina St. To San Felipe Rd

Professional engineering services for the construction of CIP#899A Acequia Trail Extension Project from Rufina St. to San Felipe Road. The Acequia Trail Extension (Rufina Street to San Felipe Road) project is located within the Agua Fria Traditional Historic Community. Throughout the year, the local landscape is relatively desolate and highly erosive. With approximately 300 days per year of unabated sunshine, less than 12" of annual rain, and limited native existing vegetation, the trail extension especially with a strong commitment to Green Infrastructure would reduce the urban heat island effect in the neighborhood. In 2019, the City received funding from Transportation Alternative Small Urban (TAPS) Funds for preliminary and final design of a 0.96 mile long multi-use, off-road, non-motorized, 10’ wide paved trail to extend access along the Acequia Trail further south to San Felipe Road and connect it to the existing El Camino Real Trail north of Agua Fria Road. The project will provide enhanced connectivity between the Acequia Trail, Santa Fe River, and Tierra Contenta trails via north-south connectors near San Felipe Road.
