Description

The work for which bids are to be received generally and briefly consists of the following: o Furnishing and installation of a new fall protection rigid rail system on the roof of the three-story portion of the of City Hall building including the installation of roof repairs at locations of attachment to the roof structural framing. o Rerouting of electrical conduit and wires adjacent to three-story roof structural framing as necessary to allow installation of rigid rail system anchorage posts. o Furnishing and installation of a single interior anchorage adjacent to the existing three-story roof hatch. o Furnishing and installation of new roof hatch at the three-story roof including selective demolition and installation of new structural framing to support the hatch. o Furnishing and installation of safety guardrails on the roof of the one-story portion building. The bid from the Contractor shall consist of the submission of the completed Contract Documents and supplemental addendums as received from the Owner. The bid shall be made on the BID PROPOSAL, BID SCHEDULE, and BID CONDITIONS forms provided as part of these Bidding Documents and shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond equal to 5% of the overall total bid. The amount of the bid guarantee shall be forfeited to the Owner if the Bidder neglects or refuses to enter into a Contract after the bid has been accepted. The Owner reserves the right to require the low Bidder to file proof, within seven (7) calendar days of the bid opening, of the Contractor's ability to finance and execute the project. This proof shall include, but not be limited to, a financial statement, a list of equipment owned by Bidder, and a backlog of jobs under a Contract. The Project will be awarded once the qualified low Bidder furnishes satisfactory evidence that they have the ability, sufficient capital, facilities, and plant to enable the Contractor to prosecute the work successfully and promptly, and to complete the work within the time specified in the Contract Documents. The Contractor shall provide a written statement as part of the Bid submittal of verifying their ability to commence work on the project within the time specified in the Contract Documents. The Owner intends to accept the lowest responsible bid and the Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, offers, or proposals submitted, or to advertise for new bids. The Owner reserves the right to defer the acceptance of any bid and the award of a Contract for a period not exceeding sixty (60) days after the date of opening the bids. Bidders are advised of the following requirements of this contract: 1) Illinois Prevailing Wage; 2) 5% Bid Security, calculated based on the Base Bid Contract amount, with submittal of bid; 3) 110% Performance Security, calculated based on the Base Bid Contract amount, within fifteen (15) calendar days after Contract award; 4) applicable OSHA and EPA requirements; 5) applicable permitting requirements. Failure to do so shall make the Contract null and void.
