Description

This sale is an improvement harvest thinning of approximately 664 acres of pine stands from Blackwater River State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The timber to be removed will be cut in 20-foot swaths leaving 40-foot swaths in between each cut swath. Swaths must be curved wherever possible to enhance aesthetics and reduce the look of a "mechanical thinning". Leaning, forked, diseased, and defective timber is to be harvested from the 40-foot leave swaths. Trees with a Diameter at Breast Height of 12 inches or more are not to be harvested. The forester in charge has the right to make minor adjustments to the cutting scheme as needed (For example, adjusting the operator select thinning in denser leave swaths). Estimated volume to be removed is 11,001 tons of Pine Pulpwood and Better. Sale boundaries are roads, obvious timber type changes, or are marked with double dots of orange paint. This will be a 12-month contract.
