CA FTNP YOSE 15(2) Glacier Point Road

Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects, FP-14 US Customary Units: CA FTNP YOSE 15(2) Glacier Point Road project is located in Mariposa County, CA within Yosemite National Park. This project will consist of roadway resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation, reconstruction of 10.6 miles of Glacier Point Road from Badger Pass to the Glacier Point Parking Area and pavement preservation of approximately 5.1 miles of Glacier Point Road from Chinquapin to Badger Pass within Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County, California. Work also includes reconstruction of the last 1.6 miles of the road approaching the Glacier Point Parking Area to widen the existing switchbacks to provide adequate roadway width for larger vehicles. Work also includes construction of 2 retaining walls, subgrade stabilization, drainage improvements including culvert cleaning and replacement, and rehabilitation/reconstruction of multiple parking areas including McGurk Meadow Trailhead, Sentinel Dome Trailhead, Washburn Point and Glacier Point. The existing roadway consists of aging and deteriorated pavement, failed drainage structures, and informal pullouts and roadside parking. Roadside pullouts will also be formalized or removed to improve safety. The terrain is mountainous with the elevation for the work ranging between 6,000 and 7,800 feet. Glacier Point Road is typically closed from Badger Pass to the Glacier Point Parking Area from November to May due to heavy winter/spring snowfall.
