Description Scope - The delivery of 1,300 tons of sand to the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center in Philadelphia, PA. An additional option CLIN for 2,000 tons of sand is included in the requirement. Requirements: The contractor shall ensure that the sand that meets the following characteristics: 1. American Foundry Society (AFS) Grain Fineness Number (GFN) of 45 +/- 5 2. The grain shape shall be sub-angular 3. The silica content shall be 99% minimum 4. The clay content shall be 0.30% maximum 5. The iron oxide shall be 1.00% maximum The nominal sand distribution shall meet the following requirements: 1. At least 4 sieves shall retain at least 10% (4 screen distribution on 40, 50, 70 and 100). 2. The 50 and 70 Sieves shall retain a combined 50% minimum. 3. The 270 Sieve and Pan shall retain a combined 0.3% maximum. 4. The sand's product data sheet showing the nominal distribution must be approved by NFPC Engineering (Code 1421.1).
