Washington Avenue Storm Sewer System

1. This project begins at an existing open mouth inlet on the western corner of the intersection of Washington Avenue and 20th Avenue. From this inlet the contractor will place 1,065 L.F. of 15” C.P.E.P. double wall, smooth lined, perforated pipe. The pipe will be connected at various lengths between four (4) Type M inlets with round openings for manhole covers, two (2) Type S inlets with 18” sumps and bicycle safe grates, and three (3) Type M inlets with 18” sumps and bicycle safe grates. 2. The four (4) Type M inlets with round openings for manhole covers will be placed in the southbound lane from 20th Avenue to approximately 22nd Avenue, the two (2) Type S inlets with 18” sumps and bicycle safe grates will be will be placed along the northern curb line from approximately 22nd Avenue to approximately 23rd Avenue, and the three (3) Type M inlets with 18” sumps and bicycle safe grates will be placed along the northern curb line at 20th Avenue, 21st Avenue, and 22nd Avenue. 3. Pipe bedding will be AASHTO #57 stone and the roadway restoration shall consist of AASHTO #57 to within 8” of the final roadway grade after which the contractor will place 8” of 25mm bituminous to the final roadway grade. An R-5 stone sump shall be placed at the last Type S inlet by 23rd Avenue unless the bid amounts allow for Alternate 1 to be constructed.
