Description

General scope for this work is to drill one HDD approximately 1,104’ feet in length. The drilling rig will be located on the southeast side of the levee with the pullback area located on the northwest side of the same levee. All materials, including coated line pipe and fittings, shall be provided by contractor. The line pipe for the drill shall be strung out and cribbed along the existing Right of Way (ROW). company has negotiated additional workspace available for contractor’s use, approximately 200’ x 150’ at the proposed HDD entry and exit points. contractor shall weld the pullback segment and tie-in spools. contractor shall provide a CAMS-approved x-ray subcontractor to perform NDT inspection on 100% of the welds. After the x-rays have been completed and the welds accepted, contractor shall perform a pre-pullback 4-hour hydrotest, and then coat the field joints. The drilling rig will mobilize on the southeast side of the levee and drill toward the northwest side. The drill path shall be offset from the existing pipeline to facilitate tie-in to the existing pipeline. Once the path has been successfully drilled and reamed, the pullback section shall be pulled into the wellbore. contractor is required to support the line pipe in the ditch to prevent sagging. contractor is responsible for supply of concrete sacks to be used for support. Once pulled back, tie-in spools shall be fabricated, x-rayed and the field joints and fittings coated. Another hydrotest, 8-hours, shall be performed on the tie-in spools and segment installed in the HDD. contractor shall run an aluminum gauging pig through the line, remove all water from the test section and dry the line. After the line has been dried, the final tie-in welds shall be completed and x-rayed, and the ditch shall be backfilled.
